The Giant Ghana Snail is the biggest snail in the world. It is also known as giant tiger land snail. It can be found in West Africa, of the coast of Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Ghana and Nigeria.
The shell of snail can go as long as 18cm with a diameter of 9cm. But in the wild, if you are lucky you can bump into a Giant Ghana snail which is 30cm long and 15cm in diameter. Isn’t that amazing! The snail lays up to 12000 eggs per year. That’s a lot of eggs.
These snails are considered a pest to the farmers and in the western world they are kept as pets. Guess what! There are people who stay in the forest of Western African enjoy eating these giant snails. Therefore these snails have become their important source of protein.
